Sagging skin and loose muscles? Try necklift!
Don’t let your neck show your age. Chronic sun exposure, stress and genetics are partly to blame for the loss of elasticity in the neck area. Over the years, the contour of the lower face and the chin is becoming droopy. Moreover, there is excess skin and fat in the neck area.
A necklift restores the aged neck and when combined with some other operations such as blepharoplasty and otoplasty, it offers a total face makeover.

The procedure
Necklift is performed under general anesthesia or sedation depending on the extent of the problem. The patient usually stays overnight in the hospital.
The incisions are made behind the ears ending in the lower scalp. They may also be made along the natural line in front of the ear lobe. In some cases, the plastic surgeon has to make a tiny incision under the chin. Through these incisions, he lifts the skin from the underlying muscle and fat, which is removed or suctioned. After he has completed necklift, muscles return to their initial position with the help of sutures and the remaining skin whose excess is removed, is stitched. The scalp incisions are stitched with special clips.
Post-operational downtime
Through the incisions, we place very thin tubes (drains) which remain there up to 72 hours. A special elastic bandage is also placed on the head for 24 hours in order to avoid swelling. Recovery time is short, whereas swelling and bruising subside within 10-15 days. Most patients return to their everyday life within 7 days and go back to work within 10 to 15 days.
Possible complications
Possible complications are rare and minor and they may include: Haematoma, inflammation, temporary loss of local nerves function (paresis) or scars.
